How does a Rotating Laser Level Work?

Laser Levels work by extending the level reference point through the use of a laser beam. As the laser beacon rotates (or spins), it generates a 360 degree level plane over a large diameter range.
Rotating lasers come in various types. They are mainly manual or automatic levelling; horizontal or split-beam (horizontal and vertical) styles.
Manual Laser Level:
Setup of a manual Laser Level requires the operator to manually level the unit by using the units' screws and bubble vials.
Self-Levelling Laser Level:
Self-levelling Laser Levels automatically find and maintain level within a specified range. Only rough levelling is required upon setup.
Split-Beam Laser Levels:
These Laser Levels emits simultaneous horizontal and vertical beams to establish both level and plumb reference lines.
Horizontal Laser Levels:
A horizontal beam Laser Level emits a single horizontal beam from its rotating beacon.
