About the event
This 2-day course is designed for engineering staff with instrument knowledge and practical site experience. It is also relevant to site based consultants and other specialist engineers who have basic survey and setting out knowledge and skills. On completion of the course delegates should be able to:
- Understand the need for primary and secondary control networks
- Understand the different methods of creating a control network
- Observe and calculate a Traverse
- Understand the principle of GPS
- Be aware of the basics of geodesy and coordinate systems
- Be aware of the wide range of GPS applications
- Understand the source of errors applying to GPS
- Understand the principles and practice of different modes of GPS survey
- Extract coordinate data from digital drawings
- Import digital data into total stations
- Produce simple volume calculations from survey data
- Interface recorded data with external software programs
